DAY(7)

A day in Chateauneuf-du-Pape.

Chateau Mont-Redon* is our first stop. Didier Fabre produces Lirac and Cotes du Rhone white and red. With a large percentage of Grenache, some Syrha, Cinsault a little Mourvedre and Cournoise, for wines which are made to be enjoyed quicker than others in the region.

Lunch in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, near the ruins of the famous Chateau, at "Le Verger des Papes".

Domaine de Font-de-Michelle*, oriented South West is located next to the famous Vieux Telegraphe vineyards. The owners Jean and Michel Gonnet, both passionate about their wines are reaping great rewards, specially with the absolutely wonderful cuvee Etienne Gonnet in 95, 98, 99, 2000 and 2001.

Le Domaine de La Mordoree*, property of Christophe Delorme is producing splendid and very constant wines. Very old vines with an average of 40 years old, are helping him to bring his work to the top of the Chateauneuf-du-Pape ranking. He also produces Lirac and Tavel in the most ancient and  historical part of their property.

On our way back to Avignon we will stop by the the Pont du Gard,  a Roman Aqueduct used to bring water to Nimes.

Simple dinner with the group in Avignon on your own.

Last night in Avignon.
